Patchwork
I started sampling and created my own print with one of my illustrations. This illustration was done at the Centre for Life Museum in Newcastle city centre. It was done by scanning in the painting into Photoshop and then getting it digitally printed onto material.
My final outcome was a patchwork throw for a chair or bed, which reflects growth of bacteria and cells. My inspiration for this particular project came from Maia Bergman’s 2013 collection.

William Morris
On my trip to Beamish I found out that they had William Morris prints specifically replicated for display in the museum.
He was a English Textile designer and Artist.
I have also seen his work displayed recently on a visit to the V&A museum in London.

Sketchbook work
Taking inspiration from the images I took at Beamish Museum I started creating sketchbook pages to present my findings using mixed media to make the pages colourful and aesthetically pleasing.
I mainly liked looking at the typography on the buildings and also the old transport such as the buses but also the coal mining .
The meaning of this brief was to look into something that is iconic to the North East and I chose this museum to focus on as it is extremely unique.

Floral Illustrations
Drawing Techniques
- Both drawings using black fine liner and some pencil in area's for shading -
- Printing using a flower and black ink gives a bold print depending on the pressure used. To capture more of the detail I used less pressure. This print would work well on a garment -
- Continuous line drawing using fine liner, a delicate drawing which would be suitable for a wallpaper design -
- Timed detailed drawing (15 mins)-
Photoshop Techniques
Print
Practicing using different tools on Photoshop to create different repeat prints and effects.
- Half Drop Repeat -
- Clone Tool -
- Block Repeat -
Surface Pattern
All of these prints have been designed either specifically for use in Interior or Fashion.
Each of the prints have been individually created on Photoshop using my original drawings.
